RÄ DI MARTINO
Rä di Martino (b.1975 Rome) deals principally with our perception of reality and fiction, drawing attention to the absurdity of representing either. The artist’s background in theatre and her passion for film emerge not just in her videos, but in photographic and installation work. Sets, actors and props are used variously to pick apart subjects as diverse as human relationships, cinematographic traditions, the theatre of war, and the fabrication of history.
Di Martino is a graduate of Chelsea College of Art and holds an MA from the Slade School of Art. Her recent solo exhibitions include: Rä di Martino, Museo del '900, Florence (2019); Pilgrimage, Fondazione Volume!, Rome, (2019); Rä di Martino, Galleria Valentina Bonomo, Rome (2018); Poor Poor Jerry, Copperfield Gallery, London (2018); Premino Acacia, Museo Del 900, Milan (2018); The Day He Swims Thru Marrakech, Galleria Monica De Cardenas, Milan (2017); Rä di Martino, Monica de Cardenas Gallery, Milan (2017); Rä di Martino, Marselleria, Milan (2017); Certo e ch-io nacqui, Istituto Nazionale della Grafica, Rome (2015); On Making a Circle to Swim Under Water, Collicaligreggi Gallery, Catania (2015); Rä di Martino, Museion, Bolzano (2014); Rä di Martino, MAXX Project, Sierre (CH) (2014); Marilyn, Galleria Il Capricorno, Venice (2014); Rä di Martino - Greater Torino, Fondazione Sandretto, Turin (2012); La controfigura – The Stand-In, Monitor Gallery, Rome (2011); Rä di Martino (Artscape at) Vartaj Gallery (2010); Rä di Martino, Artissima, Turin (2010); The Night Walker and Other Works, CAV, Coimbra (2009); Rä di Martino, Espaces Doll – Les Urbaines Festival, Lausanne (2008).
