THE STAND-IN / LA CONTROFIGURA
Having hosted over thirty films, the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou in Southern Morocco is one of the most spectacular locations in the Atlas Mountains. With a skyline utterly untarnished by modern constructions, Ait Ben Haddou is the perfect symbol of a “stand-in landscape” used to represent in different films diverse countries such as Tibet, Egypt, Rome, Greece, Afghanistan, Siria etc.... In this large installation the same image of the Kasbah is projected many times, as many times as it might have been used to represent different countries with static slide projections that overlap repetitively. |
